Jewels....not tools

The here and now.....

So today, I am going to write about something that has taken the beauty industry by storm. Its looking unlikely its going to disappear in a hurry. In fact, quite the opposite, I personally believe it is seeing the nail polish market quickly fade away as more and more of us want quick, effective treatments that cost less and last longer.

What is Soak off Gel?

Gel is a tight chain of several thousand monomers which become polymerized when activated by UV or LED light. The catalyst for polymerization is the photo initiator, which interact with an amine to form free radicals and initiate polymerization known as "curing". Soak off basically means it can be removed safely with an acetone based remover to gently peel away the gel from the nail plate without damaging it. Removal is usually incorporated into the cost of a new set of gels or can be priced on its own for those that just want gels for that special occasion.

Nazila Loves Glamour

I have worked with some of the top nail companies over my years in the beauty industry. I was lucky enough to recently be asked to attend a Nazila Loves Glamour LED soak off colour gel workshop to see for myself how their gel system worked in comparison to all the other gel systems out there on the market.

What attracted it to me?

Nazila has over 195 colours to choose from, including neon colour range and beautiful encrusted diamond range of over 18 glittery colours. That will see you sparkling your way to a party near you, and get you definitely noticed.

Long wearingLasts up to 3 weeks on hands without chipping and even longer on toes.
Speed: With an approx treatment time of just 20 minutes including nail preparation, application and curing.
Cost: A full set can be charged anything from £20 upwards. Just 20 minutes per treatment. You can have a tidy sum from 1 hours work and a very happy client.
Unique Base Coat Formula: Unique air dry bast coat dries naturally without curing in just 10 seconds. Saving time curing each individual hand. Its water like consistency means that the product doesn't bulk up the nails.
Prices: All bottles come in a beautiful chic black packaging with a colour window at the front for easy guide for you and your customers to choose a suitable colour. The sizes are 15mls and prices are all inclusive of VAT. So budgeting prices is made so much easier.

Value for money: At just £17.99 including VAT for a 15ml bottle. You will get approx 70 sets of coloured gel nails out of one beautiful bottle.
Peace of Mind: Nazila Loves Glamour is a LED curing system meaning that the LED lamps not only speed up the curing time for your clients. But it also provides a health benefit for conscious clients worried about damages of UV rays on the hands. LED systems also mean....longevity for your salon lamps and bulbs. So peace of mind that you are providing a safe, wonderful up to the minute treatment. That wont suddenly stop working when the salon getting busy during the next few months!
Cure time: Base coat non curing air dries. Colours, 30 seconds and the same for top coat. I timed myself doing a full set. It took me just 13.11 minutes to complete a full set curing my thumb nails separately.

LED lamps:

Now the other big bonus with nazila system is that you don't have to break the bank to afford a lovely LED lamp. prices range from as little as £79.99.
All the lamps can still cure a UV system gel, however the cure time will be 2 minutes instead of 30 seconds.

Glitz and glamour

Now if all you have just read about hasn't wet your appetite enough. Then this surely will? Nazila do a fantastic Glitz and glamour collection. 3D nail art, charms, nail wraps and much more. They truly are gorgeous, if you are a person that loves bling....this is the place for you!

After attending my workshop I decided to buy three colours to take away with me to put to the test and play on a nail palette. Lovely intense colour pigment. Easy to hold bottles that can be shaken to ensure pigments are mixed before applying. Its hard to believe you are applying a gel and not a nail polish? I also bought some lovely 3D nail charms and jewels to play with. Here are my finished results....Diamond encrusted gel was Mint Stars, Classic Red and Vampire Kiss (shimmery).

So...hopefully this information has opened your mind to at least consider another company or perhaps even to convert. Training courses are available with conversion or starter kits.
One thing I would say before I love you and leave you. This company may be still in its infancy  but they certainly have thought of what we want as nail techs and what isn't available out there. If it is available, I doubt you will find it at such a reasonable price with a good customer care team that will pick up your phone calls and will do their best to help you out. They will do all this without the big price tag.

I will leave you with my finished article. The reason why I wanted red shimmery nails was for an important photoshoot I was taking part in last week. Instead of using other people as the models, I was the model this time. Vintage inspired. Photography by Richard Godfrey. Hair by Rachael Lomax. Nails and make up by me! On my nails for this shoot I used "Vampire Kiss" with rose 3D nail art.

As always, I love to hear your comments and feedback. I hope I have opened your eyes to other companies and ideas that are out there in the industry. Till next time. Sparkle on!

Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee

Faceframe 3D Eyebrows: taking the beauty industry by storm!

Having done a lot of extensive research about brow extensions over the past few months. I came across this brand FaceFrame3D. What excited me the most was that they have won an invention award for the concept of this brow treatment. Plus it's a UK designed product. If, like me, you like to go for new treatments to add to your salon menus. This is definitely going to blow you and your clients away. I watched a couple of the YouTube videos and was hooked! I did look around at other brands and designs. But it kept coming right back to this company. The training is all fully accredited with BABTAC and therefore recognised within the industry. It's not the cheapest out there. But then I am not always sure that cheapest is best. You do definitely get what you pay for in this world. What is Faceframe3D?  It is a simple concept of applying synthetic individual hairs that are adhered to the skin to create a 3-dimensional eyebrow can last up to 2 weeks depending on the afterca

Failing to prepare, is to preparing to fail: GCSE VTCT Ten Recommendations

I wanted to put together a guidance list of the ten points that I have learnt along my journey teaching this GCSE qualification in order to help support, guide and assist anyone who is about to start teaching this qualification, considering teaching it, or is currently teaching it and needing some additional guidance from someone who has hands on experience. These are my own personal points and by no means set in stone. So please use them as they were intended to be, as a help list. PREPARE: Now I know this might sound a bit of an obvious point as teachers and educators we are always having to think two steps ahead. But by this I mean have your unit scenarios printed for each learner. Have spaces up on your displays so they can collect them if they have lost theirs (students do love to forget things). Have grade descriptors for the unit printed and if they have them glue them into their books so you can mark as you go along and the students know instantly what grade they are
