Essential Disposables for your beauty kits....

So its mid-week and I've decided I need to have a clear out of my tanning kit and prep ready for tomorrows busy salon day of pampering all my lovely clients.

It was whilst doing this I came across my trusty disposable kimono that it came to me, how under-rated this item really is. Its so cost effective and an essential part of my tanning kit.
I've just hand washed mine in some anti-bacterial soap and rinsed out, then hung them out on the line to dry through today.

So why is it part of my essential kit?

  • Even though it is disposable, it can be washed  and reused several times. or you can put it into the washing machine on a 30 degree wash. but be aware...don't tumble dry! Trust me, I did try this and it came out barbie doll size. Which would be fine if I had a daughter that could play dress up. But I don't, and my son wasn't too impressed when I offered this to be used on action man! It doesn't help that he is 15!
  • They are lightweight, and ideal for clients to keep on after a spray tan. If you are a mobile therapist you can incorporate this into the cost of your tans or add an additional fee and let them keep the kimono for each repeated visit.
  • Ideal for tanning parties. All of your tanners can go and get changed into all their disposables and get prepared ready for their tans and put on these lightweight kimonos, that wont make them hot, as a normal dressing gown may do.
  • It a  modesty gown most importantly for me. This is perfect for you to hand to the client whilst you leave them to undress. You then haven't got to walk in and do all the skin preparation whilst they are stood undressed and feeling self conscious. Its also a great tool to use after the spray tan to hand to them to cover up whilst you finish off the treatment and talk over aftercare etc with them.
  • You can use them for all types of other beauty treatments as well as tanning.
  • So cost effective...at less than £2 per gown, there's no excuse for not stocking a couple of these at least in your beauty kits. They come in black and are ideal for male and female clients to use.
  • It looks so professional too. When I have visited salons to have a tanning treatment, I am lucky if I get given a disposable hair cap. Let alone a gown to cover up with.
  • The gowns come with a little pouch in the sleeve, this is where the belts are folded up and stored....perfect!
Think outside the box and offer the best you can to complete your treatments to guarantee repeat business. Its not all about the actual treatment you give. It also about creating the right atmosphere, making your customers feel at ease and going that extra mile. One happy customer will generate you lots of happy customers! You can then reward them with a loyalty card, but hey, that's a whole different blog for that one.

Looking a bit overcast now...must dash! I have four kimonos to retrieve off the washing line....
Till next time
Love & sparkles

Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee...

Faceframe 3D Eyebrows: taking the beauty industry by storm!

Having done a lot of extensive research about brow extensions over the past few months. I came across this brand FaceFrame3D. What excited me the most was that they have won an invention award for the concept of this brow treatment. Plus it's a UK designed product. If, like me, you like to go for new treatments to add to your salon menus. This is definitely going to blow you and your clients away. I watched a couple of the YouTube videos and was hooked! I did look around at other brands and designs. But it kept coming right back to this company. The training is all fully accredited with BABTAC and therefore recognised within the industry. It's not the cheapest out there. But then I am not always sure that cheapest is best. You do definitely get what you pay for in this world. What is Faceframe3D?  It is a simple concept of applying synthetic individual hairs that are adhered to the skin to create a 3-dimensional eyebrow can last up to 2 weeks depending on the afterca...

Ten Common Myths You Need to Know About Nails

I am sure if we all sat round a table we could share a few of these common wives tales. Told to us by our parents, grandparents or siblings.Fact is most of them are just myths, legends, tales, lies. Call them what you must. But its time to lay down some facts about these myths, and set the record straight. Myth One: White spots or marks on your nails means you are lacking in calcium? FALSE It means you have caused trauma to your nail by knocking it or sometimes it can be if you bite your nails or put your fingers in your mouth a lot. It is nothing to do with lacking in calcium. It is amost like a little bruise. Myth Two: Green on the nails means you have fungus growing on them? FALSE Fungi is whitish  yellow in colour and not green. Green markings indicate mold on the nails. This is just like what you get in your bathrooms when moisture gets trapped along with a warm environment. This can often occur when nail enhancements have been on and lifted slightly. W...
