So its mid-week and I've decided I need to have a clear out of my tanning kit and prep ready for tomorrows busy salon day of pampering all my lovely clients.
It was whilst doing this I came across my trusty disposable kimono that it came to me, how under-rated this item really is. Its so cost effective and an essential part of my tanning kit.
I've just hand washed mine in some anti-bacterial soap and rinsed out, then hung them out on the line to dry through today.
So why is it part of my essential kit?
- Even though it is disposable, it can be washed and reused several times. or you can put it into the washing machine on a 30 degree wash. but be aware...don't tumble dry! Trust me, I did try this and it came out barbie doll size. Which would be fine if I had a daughter that could play dress up. But I don't, and my son wasn't too impressed when I offered this to be used on action man! It doesn't help that he is 15!
- They are lightweight, and ideal for clients to keep on after a spray tan. If you are a mobile therapist you can incorporate this into the cost of your tans or add an additional fee and let them keep the kimono for each repeated visit.
- Ideal for tanning parties. All of your tanners can go and get changed into all their disposables and get prepared ready for their tans and put on these lightweight kimonos, that wont make them hot, as a normal dressing gown may do.
- It a modesty gown most importantly for me. This is perfect for you to hand to the client whilst you leave them to undress. You then haven't got to walk in and do all the skin preparation whilst they are stood undressed and feeling self conscious. Its also a great tool to use after the spray tan to hand to them to cover up whilst you finish off the treatment and talk over aftercare etc with them.
- You can use them for all types of other beauty treatments as well as tanning.
- So cost effective...at less than £2 per gown, there's no excuse for not stocking a couple of these at least in your beauty kits. They come in black and are ideal for male and female clients to use.
- It looks so professional too. When I have visited salons to have a tanning treatment, I am lucky if I get given a disposable hair cap. Let alone a gown to cover up with.
- The gowns come with a little pouch in the sleeve, this is where the belts are folded up and stored....perfect!
Think outside the box and offer the best you can to complete your treatments to guarantee repeat business. Its not all about the actual treatment you give. It also about creating the right atmosphere, making your customers feel at ease and going that extra mile. One happy customer will generate you lots of happy customers! You can then reward them with a loyalty card, but hey, that's a whole different blog for that one.
Looking a bit overcast now...must dash! I have four kimonos to retrieve off the washing line....
Till next time
Love & sparkles
