Ten Beauty Benefits of Coconut Oil

I had to share this great product with you all because it has so many beauty benefits to it. It's natural and it so inexpensive to buy plus you can buy it off the shelf in any supermarket. I got mine from Tesco's I think it was less than £1.50 for a whole bottle.
First thing to mention about this product is that when it gets cold it sets and looks white unless your house is very warm it will need warming up ideally to use it at its best.
Less is more with this as well, you get the added bonus that it smells delicious too.

Beauty Benefit one: it's amazing on your cuticles to keep them nourished and soft. Place a small amount of the oil once warmed up either on a cotton bud or if you have a dropper you can dip this directly into the liquid and drop onto your cuticles. Any residue left over can be rubbed into the nails and hands for an added bit of moisture.

Beauty Benefit Two: for a deep scalp conditioning treatment for those of you that suffer with dry flaky scalps. Warm a amount up remember less is more....place onto your hands and slowly massage into the scalp working from the front of your head backwards with rotating massage movements as this will help stimulate the scalp and get the blood flowing which will be great for your hair. Leave on for as long as you have time for. Ideally 20-30 minutes and then shampoo and condition as normal. Remember two shampoos, one to superficially cleanse, second to deep cleanse.

Beauty Benefit Three: warmed up in the palms of your hands and massaged into your face and neck works wonders. This works as a wonderful moisturising serum for any particularly dry areas on the face and neck. Again if you have time, leave it on to soak in as much of the nourishment as possible.

Beauty Benefit Four: ideal as a make up remover for stubborn make up or as an excellent eye make up remover. Works wonders on mascara build up or waterproof.

Beauty Benefit Five: massage into cracked heels or any areas of skin that feel dry and cracked this works wonders. I massage mine into heels once I have got out of the bath and then place cotton socks over your feet. This will not only keep your feet lovely and warm, but the coconut oil will be able to soak right into the skin. Doing this at night is ideal as the skin heels itself at night when you are resting.

Beauty Benefit Six: Use it as a deep hot oil treatment for your hair. Heat it up and apply onto the ends first. Remembering less is more! Once you have done this all over your hair. Apply remaining oil to scalp and massage. Then place a shower cap on or wrap your hair in a towel to lock in the warmth. Leave on for as long as time will allow you. 20 minutes would be great. Longer you have the more benefit it will make to your hair. The result will be silky, shiny looking hair.

Beauty Benefit Seven: mix the oil with caster sugar  or white sugar to make a luxurious body scrub that will smell delicious and get the circulation going all over your body. Because the ingredients are natural you can bottle this up and use it all over your body and face. Or even better, make a batch load and give it as lovely gifts to friends or family.

Beauty Benefit Eight: add a few drops directly to your warm bath to make a deep skin conditioning treatment. That will leave your body feeling silky smooth and moisturised all over.

Beauty Benefit Nine: use directly onto the palms of your hands so you just have a thin coating and apply to ends of your hair like a serum to tame down any frizz on your ends of hair.

Beauty Benefit Ten: save one of your old small jars or tins. Add a small amount of the oil into the tin, you can mix it will caster sugar to make an exfoliating lip scrub or just use with a little bit of essential oil to make a lovely lip balm.

Enjoy trying out at least one of this benefits of coconut oil. No longer do you need to spend out large sums of money to get lovely skin and body treatments. All of these from one inexpensive product that will leave you feeling like you have been for a day at the spa....and not a relaxing session at home!
Happy pampering.
Until next time love and sparkle

  1. Thanks for the tips Caroline, apparently it's very good as a toothpaste too. It helps to make the teeth shine and promote gum health. However I've yet to try it.

Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee

Faceframe 3D Eyebrows: taking the beauty industry by storm!

Having done a lot of extensive research about brow extensions over the past few months. I came across this brand FaceFrame3D. What excited me the most was that they have won an invention award for the concept of this brow treatment. Plus it's a UK designed product. If, like me, you like to go for new treatments to add to your salon menus. This is definitely going to blow you and your clients away. I watched a couple of the YouTube videos and was hooked! I did look around at other brands and designs. But it kept coming right back to this company. The training is all fully accredited with BABTAC and therefore recognised within the industry. It's not the cheapest out there. But then I am not always sure that cheapest is best. You do definitely get what you pay for in this world. What is Faceframe3D?  It is a simple concept of applying synthetic individual hairs that are adhered to the skin to create a 3-dimensional eyebrow can last up to 2 weeks depending on the afterca

Failing to prepare, is to preparing to fail: GCSE VTCT Ten Recommendations

I wanted to put together a guidance list of the ten points that I have learnt along my journey teaching this GCSE qualification in order to help support, guide and assist anyone who is about to start teaching this qualification, considering teaching it, or is currently teaching it and needing some additional guidance from someone who has hands on experience. These are my own personal points and by no means set in stone. So please use them as they were intended to be, as a help list. PREPARE: Now I know this might sound a bit of an obvious point as teachers and educators we are always having to think two steps ahead. But by this I mean have your unit scenarios printed for each learner. Have spaces up on your displays so they can collect them if they have lost theirs (students do love to forget things). Have grade descriptors for the unit printed and if they have them glue them into their books so you can mark as you go along and the students know instantly what grade they are
