Bring fresh new life to your salon by reviewing your treatment menus and plan for the year ahead.
A change is as good as the rest, right? Take a look at your services and the list of descriptions on your menus and think which treatments are your most popular and why? Which treatments aren't so popular and why? Menus need to excite the customer to want to have the treatment listed. If the descriptions the same ole and not inviting, why are your customers going to want to try them?
Add a little colour
Add a fresh clean look that's welcoming, interesting but most of all inviting. Remember that not all our clients are familiar with our technical terms. Think about this when designing your menus too. Instead of big technical words, add images and colour which will be eye catching. Make sure upfront costs are clear and try not to over complicate things with a mass of different costs for different therapists and stylists.
Clients can be given this information about different costs during the consultation stage or when booking.
Mix it up a little
It's not all about adding lots of new services, that can confuse the client or most importantly for the salon business, can cost extra money. Look at the treatments and services you currently offer and mix it up a little.
Just like in coffee shops and restaurants we have loyalty cards and package deals. Why not do block bookings for the salon? Block bookings of four blow dries, four make overs and four mini manicures. These can be made into your very own package to suit your clients busy summer season. Ready for a friends wedding, a holiday or just because we fancy a little pampering.
When you offer block booking benefits think about the treatments that you are good at and are popular. But also consider adding in the treatments that haven't been popular and perhaps re-inventing them. Give them a new name that's connected to this season, or that's right on trend. We all want what's hot right now.
High street shops refresh their collections seasonally. So why don't we with our treatments and menus? Yes, it means a little bit of planning ahead. But if you know it's going to keep your customers excited about the treatments and services you offer and the tills ringing. It's a win, win!
Ahead of the Trends
We all lead very busy lives, but still all love our pampering sessions and time out. The difference now is, we want the same results but in half the time. We want to pop in before work, or in our lunch breaks and have a refresh and a hint of luxury.
The answer lies with express treatments. Lots of high street shops are already offering these. Quick, effective treatments and services that deliver and provide the same results.
Think bun bars, braid bars, brow bars, lash bars, nail bars.....see a pattern? Quick drop in treatments that offer 15-20 minute treatments.
Braids, make overs and file and polishes are a great over all package to offer. It gives the trend look, that can combine all three services that would take no more than 45 minutes and bring in your salon easy money. Most importantly, get people talking about what you offer.
Opening times
If you are offering express services. Think about the times your salon opens to fit in with express treatments. If I want to drop in before an important board meeting, having the salon open perhaps one day a week early at say 7-7.30am will welcome new clients that want to drop out of bed and fall into the open doors of your shop. This would work really well with the total look and block bookings. They basically can arrive to you having just woken up, and have you create the perfect beautified glamorous look for a price that anyone would consider paying if it saves them time and effort. If I had a £1 for everyone of my clients that said to me "can I take you home, and have you do my make up every morning?" . I would be very rich! This concept is why express, bookings are the way forward.
Beauty trends
Pale nails and nude tones are a hit this season, with natural make up and glowing, luminous healthy skin. Take these new trends into account when planning your Spring clean. Clients love to know whats hot, whats not. Most importantly, they want a piece of the action!
An idea could be to have a point of sale area that has your salon collection of hot season trends from make up collections to nail colours and images of hair braids and up dos you have created.
Its all about looking at the services for a different angle. By adding a few adjustments and changing names and timings. It will be like having a whole new business. With that, a whole new client base and an existing client base that will feel like they can get excited by the new changes.
Now ask yourself the question....does my treatment menu need a Spring clean? I think we all could benefit from one.
Good luck and have fun with it. Till next time,
Love and Sparkle
