What is the benefit of a face pack or mud pack?

Face packs are designed to give your skin a boost when its feeling like it needs a bit of a pick-me-up. The idea is to use them 1-2 times per week depending on your skin type and the reason why you are using them. You need to apply them to freshly cleansed skin, a plus would be to have exfoliated before to allow the products and ingredients to work deeper into the top layer of the skin.
Face packs are becoming widely used by men as well as women and prove to have massive skin benefits to men due to the stress that can be caused to their skin through shaving.
So ladies...grab a man and get face packing together!

Egg white:These have a wonderful astringent property to help draw out block pores and impurities. Mix with a little lemon to add to brightening effect.
Coffee:
Ground coffee is very good at detoxifying the skin. Ideal if you have been partying hard or just feel like your skin needs a pick-me-up. It also helps to improve blood flow which in turn will help to brighten your completion if feeling or looking a little dull. Good with the season change, and when the skin suffers climate changes.

Cucumber:
This is a natural moisturiser as its mainly made up of water so is excellent applied after a night out or after a busy session working in an air com office. Great when added to natural yoghurt as they both work well as a moisturiser and are great at hydrating the skin.
Honey:Honey has great anti-bacterial properties so is particularly beneficial to acne skins or skin with imperfections and pimples or spots. It works well at healing and brightening the skin.
Nutmeg:
Works well if mixed in with other ingredients such as yoghurt or milk as its very good at exfoliating the skin due to its natural properties and the grain effect it has. This would be a quick exfoliation and mask in one! Exfoliation action will increase the blood circulation therefore aiding detoxification.

Milk has been a well known beauty regime for hundreds of years. Fantastic at lightening and brightening the skin and has exfoliating properties. It is also good at soothing and calming the skin.

So you see, you really don't have to spend out a small fortune to create a wonderful face pack when you probably have some great ingredients already in your store cupboard?

Just a little recipe as its national face pack day coming up in the UK. This one can be enjoyed by all the family and is easy to prepare.

Great for all skin types particularly dry or sensitive

  • 1 cucumber ( save two chopped slices for your eyes)
  • Half a cup of yoghurt
  • 1 Tbsp of powdered milk

Chop the cucumber up into small pieces. Add to the blender. To this then add all the other ingredients and blend until in a paste consistency. Because the cucumber has such a high content of water it will blend really well and allow a nice runny but not too messy application.
Apply to the face and neck, avoiding the eyes and sit back and relax for 15-20 minutes whilst the ingredients do their thing! Remember to add your two cucumber slices to your eyes to give them a treat too.
This mask is NOT a setting mask as it doesn't contain clay.
Wash off and remove all the mask with warm water and/or a flannel and apply your moisturiser in the usual way.

Enjoy experimenting with other ingredients and feeling how amazing they can make your skin feel.
Until next time...

Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee

Faceframe 3D Eyebrows: taking the beauty industry by storm!

Having done a lot of extensive research about brow extensions over the past few months. I came across this brand FaceFrame3D. What excited me the most was that they have won an invention award for the concept of this brow treatment. Plus it's a UK designed product. If, like me, you like to go for new treatments to add to your salon menus. This is definitely going to blow you and your clients away. I watched a couple of the YouTube videos and was hooked! I did look around at other brands and designs. But it kept coming right back to this company. The training is all fully accredited with BABTAC and therefore recognised within the industry. It's not the cheapest out there. But then I am not always sure that cheapest is best. You do definitely get what you pay for in this world. What is Faceframe3D?  It is a simple concept of applying synthetic individual hairs that are adhered to the skin to create a 3-dimensional eyebrow can last up to 2 weeks depending on the afterca

Failing to prepare, is to preparing to fail: GCSE VTCT Ten Recommendations

I wanted to put together a guidance list of the ten points that I have learnt along my journey teaching this GCSE qualification in order to help support, guide and assist anyone who is about to start teaching this qualification, considering teaching it, or is currently teaching it and needing some additional guidance from someone who has hands on experience. These are my own personal points and by no means set in stone. So please use them as they were intended to be, as a help list. PREPARE: Now I know this might sound a bit of an obvious point as teachers and educators we are always having to think two steps ahead. But by this I mean have your unit scenarios printed for each learner. Have spaces up on your displays so they can collect them if they have lost theirs (students do love to forget things). Have grade descriptors for the unit printed and if they have them glue them into their books so you can mark as you go along and the students know instantly what grade they are
