Needle Your Own Home Face Lift

Facing facts that am never getting any younger, and no I will not age gracefully! I will do what needs must to help my skin stay as younger looking as possible. More and more of us are becoming more aware of how we can look whether it be with the helping hand of surgery or not. Once you start these things like botox and fillers etc, where does it stop?

I have always had an interest in beauty and skin, its my job and has been for over 20 years. Am sure like most of us, over the years, and certainly when I was younger i never thought I would get older or have wrinkles.

I came across this little hand held tool, oooh some years back. I have been using it myself on and off for about three years. I go through phases and go mad with it and then it goes back in the bathroom cabinet for a few months. I have recently pulled it back out again and started using it now it looks like Summer has popped out to play again.
So today I am going to explain the basics of this to you and then aim to do a video tutorial on YouTube too to back it up.

What is Micro Needling?

This is a treatment that uses a hand held tool called a Derma Roller that is coated in tiny closed spaced needles. It comes in all different size needles depending on results required and what you are treating. I would start on a smaller needle and build your skin up to bigger gradually. Mine is 0.05mm.

How does it work?

As the device rolls across your skin it creates tiny holes in the surface of your skin. This causes slight trauma to your skin (redness, no bleeding). Resulting in increased production of collagen, elastin and aiding circulation and drainage. The skin is more plump and thickens in response to the stimulus reducing appearance of scars, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks.

Is it painful?

It can be if you apply too much pressure. The idea is to slowly build up your skins tolerance to it. I would start by using it once a week and then slowly increase that to maybe 1-3 times per week. You need to leave sufficient days in between to allow the skin to recover. I would describe it as no more painful than waxing your brows or tweezering. You know its worth the slight uncomfortable moment, so you can tolerate it. The skin can feel a little tight and dry afterwards for a day or so. Of course the thing to remember is, it can be used on the body, not just the face!

Why would anyone wish to do this?

Micro needling is a brilliant way of improving scars, stretch marks fine lines, wrinkles and helping with hair loss even burn scars. It is also said to be useful in aiding deeper absorption of topically applied skin preparations.

Does it really work?

In my opinion yes. I have seen the results on my own skin and comments I get about my skin. I do take care of my skin and apply skin preparations. So yes, its a combination of all these factors. But hey, if it suits you and it works. The theory behind it all makes sense and its not like it costs thousands to have or that its difficult to do on yourself.
There is a certain way to use it. You work in one direction and then another and the pressure shouldn't be too heavy and you shouldn't scratch the surface of the skin. This is why I am going to do you all a YouTube video to back this blog up.

Cleaning and aftercare

It is important that you do not share your roller device with anyone to avoid cross contamination. Regular cleaning in between uses is very important too with correct cleaning to totally sanitise the needles. I use antibacterial soap immediately after I have used it. Then I use a sanitation spray on it and allow it to air dry.

Where can you get it from?

You can buy direct from certain pharmacies or online retailers such as Amazon sell them too. Read all manufacturers instructions before using and make yourself aware of all instructions before using it.

I love mine, and have even bought a smaller sized roller for my eye area and harder to reach areas....will show you all in the video.
Until then, happy rollering! I am sure you will see amazing results with this device. Dont rush it, take your time and use it correctly and you will start to see some fantastic results. Soon we will all be on our way to younger looking skin without the look of surprise or over plumped lips etc

Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee

Faceframe 3D Eyebrows: taking the beauty industry by storm!

Having done a lot of extensive research about brow extensions over the past few months. I came across this brand FaceFrame3D. What excited me the most was that they have won an invention award for the concept of this brow treatment. Plus it's a UK designed product. If, like me, you like to go for new treatments to add to your salon menus. This is definitely going to blow you and your clients away. I watched a couple of the YouTube videos and was hooked! I did look around at other brands and designs. But it kept coming right back to this company. The training is all fully accredited with BABTAC and therefore recognised within the industry. It's not the cheapest out there. But then I am not always sure that cheapest is best. You do definitely get what you pay for in this world. What is Faceframe3D?  It is a simple concept of applying synthetic individual hairs that are adhered to the skin to create a 3-dimensional eyebrow can last up to 2 weeks depending on the afterca

Failing to prepare, is to preparing to fail: GCSE VTCT Ten Recommendations

I wanted to put together a guidance list of the ten points that I have learnt along my journey teaching this GCSE qualification in order to help support, guide and assist anyone who is about to start teaching this qualification, considering teaching it, or is currently teaching it and needing some additional guidance from someone who has hands on experience. These are my own personal points and by no means set in stone. So please use them as they were intended to be, as a help list. PREPARE: Now I know this might sound a bit of an obvious point as teachers and educators we are always having to think two steps ahead. But by this I mean have your unit scenarios printed for each learner. Have spaces up on your displays so they can collect them if they have lost theirs (students do love to forget things). Have grade descriptors for the unit printed and if they have them glue them into their books so you can mark as you go along and the students know instantly what grade they are
