Pulling on the Purse Strings....

In the current climate, with everyone watching their backs and looking at different ways they can cut back and budget their everyday existence. One of the first things I hear customers tell me is luxuries such as beauty regimes are one of the first to go or at least be stretched out for a longer time lapse.
Does it have to be penny pinching? Surely using something on our skin is better than nothing at all?
Well, as an owner once upon a time of a high street shop, I had all the top skincare and make up brands on sale. Yes, people came and purchased them from all around.
But now that its just me renting a room within a hotel, I didn't think this type of marketing was right or indeed necessary. I tend to order goods and stock in as and when my clients tell me they are getting low. This way I don't have dead money sat on my shelves.

So, in view of all the above I have been looking into other brands of skincare and doing a bit of experimenting myself.

Aldis was my market, and there award winning make up and skincare ranges. Now for those that are now reading this and going....What? Aldi? Yes, I did indeed say Aldi.

I decided to give it a try as a women that loves to use any luxury item on my skin and has quite sensitive skin on my face. I thought this was worth a shot. With one of its serums literally selling out over its high end competition. I thought it was time I dropped the posh act and gave it a go.
One thing I would say is like all products you buy in this store, you need to have an open mind and have a good old rummage through the products. I picked out Q10 daily moisturizer at just £1.99 for a 50ml tub.
The packaging was fine and it came with full instructions. It also backed up the full regime with eye creams and gels and night creams that work alongside this day cream.
So you get what you pay for right?
Well, I have to say I loved this cream, and in reality, its consistency was better than some of the high end creams I have used in the past. It isn't highly fragranced. It was light and absorbed into my skin with ease without a greasy aftermath, ready for my make up application.
It didn't sting when I applied it and it only cost £1.99.

This is what the company says about the products themselves:

Lacura Anti-wrinkle Q10 Day Cream moisturises the skin throughout the day and helps to protect the skin against ageing. This cream contains a bioflavonoid formula which is a natural component of elder blossom. In conjunction with Vitamins E and C, it helps to protect the skin from the harmful effects of the environment.

Coenzyme Q10 is a natural substance that can be generated by the body. It stimulates the biological functions of the skin and protects it from the harmful environmental effects that are responsible for accelerating the ageing process of the skin.
As featured in Woman’s Own February 2009"This anti-ageing cream has been flying off the Aldi shelves since an independent trial rated its skin-smoothing properties higher than more expensive brands."

The results from using this anti-ageing cream I hear you ask? Brilliant! In fact I have gone back and bought another tub plus the eye cream I was so impressed.
Sometimes you just got to drop the snobbery and step out of your comfort zone. Since using this cream I have searched the internet and found numerous raves from satisfied customers that wouldn't maybe of tried this before, had they not needed to think about cutting back a little.

Whilst i am bigging this product range up. It is my own opinion and therefore I would stress to try yourself before you comment. As a qualified beauty therapist who knows all the big companies out there mainly because at some point I have trained in their skincare ranges. I would say to you all, whilst this may not be suitable for everyone. It certainly gives the market leaders a kick up the rear end!

Till next time. Love & sparkle

Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee...
