Jewels....not tools

The here and now..... So today, I am going to write about something that has taken the beauty industry by storm. Its looking unlikely its going to disappear in a hurry. In fact, quite the opposite, I personally believe it is seeing the nail polish market quickly fade away as more and more of us want quick, effective treatments that cost less and last longer. What is Soak off Gel? Gel is a tight chain of several thousand monomers which become polymerized when activated by UV or LED light. The catalyst for polymerization is the photo initiator, which interact with an amine to form free radicals and initiate polymerization known as "curing". Soak off basically means it can be removed safely with an acetone based remover to gently peel away the gel from the nail plate without damaging it. Removal is usually incorporated into the cost of a new set of gels or can be priced on its own for those that just want gels for that special occasion. Nazila Loves Glamour I have

Eye Candy

So as the nights are drawing in and the Summer we never seemed to get this year, seems a distant memory. I am preparing myself for the festivities. I love Halloween, Bonfire night and then of course, Christmas. Any excuse to get the house dressed up and get friends and family around. This new discovery of mine, is another reason why I love Christmas and the party season. Its the one time of year that my family traditionally got dressed up when I was little. I love getting the glad rags on and deciding on hairstyles, make up and all the trimmings that comes with going out. As a make up artist, I know that eyeliners and application of lashes can be a hard task to achieve on your own. Looking into a mirror whilst training to adhere a foreign body to your lashes can be quite  a task! Now my favourite look thats in right now is the vintage, victory rolls and red lips and heavy brows and lashes. Thats why i had to share this discovery with you.   If like me, you get watery eyes and

Skin sense....makes sense

Hi all, I decided I needed to blog about this subject, especially as its close to my heart. I have a teenaged son who has been relatively lucky with his skin going through early teens. But then he has me constantly nagging him to use the correct products on his skin. As a young man, I think now-a-days it seems more acceptable to use different lotions on your skin. much more of these are available off the shelf and on the high street. In comparison, my husband doesnt believe in an array of lotions for the skin, hair and body. No he thinks they all do the same thing and will on regular occasions wash his hair and body with shampoo! My son has been lucky in the fact that he hasnt had acne spots that look raised and angry looking. But he had been getting the odd large sore spot. But many smaller red spots, often under the skin, that have appeared all around his neck and backs of the shoulders. more so where he must get hot. So apart from educating them on good hygiene and remembering

Glittering fairy Dust!

Happy mid-week to you all. I am sorry I havent written for a while. Life just does this to us sometimes. I have been side tracked with launching a new business venture. In the form of a hair and beauty training academy. If you get a minute check us out on facebook Stepping Stones Training Academy and twitter @sstacademy. So I dont know about you, but I have put the heating on the last couple of evenings to take the chill off in the air. We have been lucky with the September weather though...but then Summer did come late. Because Summer seems like its a distant memory. I felt the need today to put a bit of sparkle back into life. Today I would like to give you all a little insight into the world of me...if you dont know me already, that is? I am your typical girlie girlie. Like a magpie, my hubby says. All that glitters and shimmers and am there. Just because I think with blogs, its important to go with what is easy to get hold of as a general shopper. I have decided to go for a r

What is a Paraben...that is the question?

So as a beauty educator, salon owner and a "Beauty Geek", I get asked this question alot. So I decided to put my thoughts, ideas and research down as a blog for you make your own minds up and come to your own personal conclusions. Should I avoid them? So you may have heard rumours that parabens should be avoided and they are bad for you? You may have never heard of them? It does seem to be the buzz word at the moment. With the power of the internet and beauty journals and such like. Its important to read up on these researches and judge for yourselves. But know enough to explain them to clients, customers and anyone that may mention them. I found, once you start to look into ingredients in skincare, beauty products and the likes. Its amazing how you view things alittle differently. What is a paraben? Where can they be found? Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives, and that’s why they are found in so many products, to give them a longer shelf life. They are us

Yummy Mummy.....golden delicious

Juggling the workload: So, lets face facts here the average women after juggling the household chores, trying to find what to cook for tea, thats different, not boring and edible. Will think this blog is the last thing she thinks about..being a"Yummy Mummy". Its fine line between looking good, and not trying too hard. Which is were I am at now with having a 14 year old son. who would waste no time in saying " are you wearing THAT mum?". Which doesnt make me feel great. I myself really do juggle lots of plates and wear lots of hats on an average day. I love to cook. I love a tidy home. I want to have a job I enjoy and earn a good living to help support the family. But i also dont want people to look at me and think...its time she dropped the beauty therapist hat, and hung it up for good on the count that am looking my years...or past them! So tonight having completed all my household chores I might add. I didnt cook tea, left that one to my good hubby. I decided
