Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee

Are you making the most of FREE Digital Advertising for your Business? Part 1

Have you tweeted, poked, shared, commented pinned and posted??  Yes, it is a bit of a minefield I know. But its social media and advertising at there best. The truth is, its not going to go away. If you don't learn how to utilize it for your business, you will be tagging behind the ones that do and the chances are loosing customers because of it? So how do we know what ones to use? Most importantly....how do we use them??  Twitter is one that I find when talking to fellow business owners, still mind boggles them. We seem to all know a bit about Facebook , but Twitter is the one most have got an account with, but rarely us it mainly because they don't understand it. I hold  my hand up as being one of these people at the beginning. I had an account and just couldn't get my head around the whole "Tweeting", "Favourite" and "Retweet" thing. It works very differently to Facebook. I think Twitter is in a way, in my opinion, better as a busines

Faceframe 3D Eyebrows: taking the beauty industry by storm!

Having done a lot of extensive research about brow extensions over the past few months. I came across this brand FaceFrame3D. What excited me the most was that they have won an invention award for the concept of this brow treatment. Plus it's a UK designed product. If, like me, you like to go for new treatments to add to your salon menus. This is definitely going to blow you and your clients away. I watched a couple of the YouTube videos and was hooked! I did look around at other brands and designs. But it kept coming right back to this company. The training is all fully accredited with BABTAC and therefore recognised within the industry. It's not the cheapest out there. But then I am not always sure that cheapest is best. You do definitely get what you pay for in this world. What is Faceframe3D?  It is a simple concept of applying synthetic individual hairs that are adhered to the skin to create a 3-dimensional eyebrow can last up to 2 weeks depending on the afterca

Time for a "Treatment Menu Spring Clean!"

Bring fresh new life to your salon by reviewing your treatment menus and plan for the year ahead. Goodbye to dull days and dark evenings. Hello bright mornings and lighter, longer evenings. We spring clean our homes, so why not do the same with our businesses and treatment menus? A change is as good as the rest, right? Take a look at your services and the list of descriptions on your menus and think which treatments are your most popular and why? Which treatments aren't so popular and why? Menus need to excite the customer to want to have the treatment listed. If the descriptions the same ole and not inviting, why are your customers going to want to try them? Add a little colour Add a fresh clean look that's welcoming, interesting but most of all inviting. Remember that not all our clients are familiar with our technical terms. Think about this when designing your menus too. Instead of big technical words, add images and colour which will be eye catching. Make sure u

How to Prepare for the Perfect Tanning Party

I decided today as the sun has got his hat on, it was an appropriate time to talk you all through how I prepare for my tanning parties. This is something I get asked a lot about during my tanning training sessions. Firstly decide how much you will charge per tan. Will it be slightly cheaper than your regular tans, as you will only be driving to one location, with a higher potential earning. What will be you minimum amount in a party? What will be your maximum? My minimum is four, and my maximum would probably be ten. But that's with experience behind me, so don't put yourself under extra pressure. Six is a good amount to begin with. Hostess Pack

Ten Beauty Benefits of Coconut Oil

I had to share this great product with you all because it has so many beauty benefits to it. It's natural and it so inexpensive to buy plus you can buy it off the shelf in any supermarket. I got mine from Tesco's I think it was less than £1.50 for a whole bottle. First thing to mention about this product is that when it gets cold it sets and looks white unless your house is very warm it will need warming up ideally to use it at its best. Less is more with this as well, you get the added bonus that it smells delicious too.                                                 Beauty Benefit one : it's amazing on your cuticles to keep them nourished and soft. Place a small amount of the oil once warmed up either on a cotton bud or if you have a dropper you can dip this directly into the liquid and drop onto your cuticles. Any residue left over can be rubbed into the nails and hands for an added bit of moisture. Beauty Benefit Two : for a deep scalp conditioning treatmen

Hands up! Baby hands up!

Lets face it this time of year our skin in general takes a bit of a battering. Its dark, cold and gloomy outside and do we really want to get the moisturiser out and cream ourselves up when it is cold? No one will see.....will they?? Well hands do give a lot away. I have always got a tube of some kind of hand cream in my hand bag. But that doesn't always mean I use it right? This season the focus is on creamy complexions and glowing skin. This includes the hands especially as they are seen more so. Lets not forget them. Take some time out to exfoliate, rinse and apply a hand mask for ten minutes then apply a lovely fragrant hand cream. Exfoliating will not only instantly take years off the look of the hands, but it will also aid the application of moisturiser to penetrate far deeper into the skins layers and will do more good. Then just sitting on all that dead, dull looking skin if you don't exfoliate. Boys, we shouldn't forget your hands either. Use all the above b
