Wrinkle Defence Egg Eye Mask

Following on from our Part 1 blog series on "Love the Skin You`re In" I want to share a wonderfully beneficial, easy to make recipe made from our first subject topic we spoke about in my blog which is Eggs. Eggs have many wonderful skin loving qualities.
Here are just a few:

  • Egg whites work as a great astringent to help close the pores.
  • They work wonders on oily skin, acne prone skin as they absorb excess oil
  • Great aid for blackheads and blocked pores.
  •  Whites of the eggs have a great tightening and lifting effect on the skin, which means they are particularly good around the delicate eye area.
  • Egg whites diminish fine lines and help to brighten the skin.
If this isn't enough to convince you then lets get started on this simple, easy to create recipe that will take a maximum of 15 minutes out of your day and will cost you a minimal amount.
It is important to remember that this eye mask needs to be applied on clean skin with no make up and using clean tools and equipment.

What you will need:

  • Hand whisk
  • small bowl
  • 1 egg
  • Make up brush or paint brush
  • Vitamin E oil (capsules are fine)
  • Cotton wool and/or face cloth
Crack the egg and separate just the egg white for this mask. Whisk the white until frothy (be warned this will give your arm a bit of a work out too!).
Once it is frothy add 1-2 drops of Vitamin E or 1 capsule to the egg and whisk again for a minute to ensure its all incorporated.
Next using your clean make up brush or paint brush apply the mixture to under the eye area ensuring you go round the sides of the eyes to cover those laughter lines too. Be careful not to go too close to the eyes that in goes in, but close enough to get the problem areas. Leave to set for 10-15 minutes. Wait as the egg dries it will begin to tighten around your eye area...wonderful this is when you know its doing you good.
Now whilst you wait you can clean up your dishes used.

How does the Vitamin E work?

The Vitamin E is a powerful rich antioxidant which helps to fight free-radicals. Which in basic terms means it helping to keep you more youthful and younger looking by keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay. Who doesn't want that right??

Once the time is up remove using warm water and a face cloth or damp cotton wool. Ensure all the whites are removed and continue with your normal skincare routine. This same procedure can be repeated 1-2 times a week or as you feel your skin needs it.

Skin Tip: Use the rest of the egg whites on the rest of your face and neck for a complete face wrinkle defence treatment.
Look out for the rest of my blog series and more easy to follow skin loving recipes.

Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee...

Ten Common Myths You Need to Know About Nails

I am sure if we all sat round a table we could share a few of these common wives tales. Told to us by our parents, grandparents or siblings.Fact is most of them are just myths, legends, tales, lies. Call them what you must. But its time to lay down some facts about these myths, and set the record straight. Myth One: White spots or marks on your nails means you are lacking in calcium? FALSE It means you have caused trauma to your nail by knocking it or sometimes it can be if you bite your nails or put your fingers in your mouth a lot. It is nothing to do with lacking in calcium. It is amost like a little bruise. Myth Two: Green on the nails means you have fungus growing on them? FALSE Fungi is whitish  yellow in colour and not green. Green markings indicate mold on the nails. This is just like what you get in your bathrooms when moisture gets trapped along with a warm environment. This can often occur when nail enhancements have been on and lifted slightly. W...
