What Mood? Which essential oil is right for you? DISCOUNT CODE INCLUDED FOR OUR ONLINE SHOP!

What Mood?

How many times have you had someone ask you"whats up with you today?" You: "Nothing, I`m fine, why?". I know I have, many times. We think we are fine, but the weather, our surroundings, people and much more can alter our mood.
Did you know that our mood can be altered in a matter of seconds just by simply smelling an essential oil? Scents send a message to our brain, that triggers a specific emotional response. Thats why certain smells are linked to certain thoughts and memories. Whether that be scents that remind us of home, a person, or a childhood memory? My son always speaks of the smells of his laundered clothes that have a specific scent that reminds him of home.
Coffee shops have that wonderful coffee aroma that straight away triggers the senses and makes me feel warm and cozy and relaxed.

Smells have a huge impact on us and our moods, daily. With that in mind you now need to learn how to harness the mood boosting powers that essential oils offer. Here are a few trigger words to help you link to the essential oils that will help harness those moods and feelings.
Have fun experimenting with them. Find the ones that you like and that work for you.

Facts first

  • Because essential oils are lipid soluble, which means that they’re capable of going through cell walls, oils can start working in as little as 20 minutes time and continue to work for up to several hours after using.
  • The Egyptians were the first to take advantage of the wonders of aromatherapy and aromatic herbs. They used them for religious purposes, cosmetics and medicines.
  • When properly stored essential oils can have a shelf life up to five years and in some cases as long as 10 years if looked after and stored in the correct way.
  • The oils themselves are highly concentrated and should never be used neat onto the skin. Just a tiny few drops of essential oils is all that is required for an application.
  • Essential oils aren`t actually oils. They are concentrated plant constituents. They aren`t technically oils because they don`t contain fatty acids which is what is used to make up oils.
  • Essential oils and fragrances arent actually the same. Fragrances are synthetic rather than natural.

Which oil is right for you?

Tired: Try Wild Orange it invigorates the mind and senses.
Shattered: Try Basil it increases concentration and will help you to focus.
Sad: Try Clary Sage it helps combat depression by boosting your self-esteem and confidence.
Anxious: Try Chamomile it improves your inner harmony and helps to decrease anxiety.
Angry: Try using Ylang Ylang as this oil helps to release negative emotions.
Forgetfulness: Try using Rosemary as this helps to improve alertness and helps with your memory.
Stressed: Try Bergamot this helps to relieve tense and anxiety.
Tense: Try using Lavender which helps to calm the mind.
This list is by no means conclusive. There are many more essential oils that would help and aid the moods mentioned here. These are just a snippet of those that immediately spring to mind. Of course oils can be blended together to work in harmony to help your mood. For example if you have tension and feel stressed you could combine Bergamot with Lavender to help work on both feelings?
For me, that is the joy of essential oils. Each blend can be, and possibly will be different for the person on each occasion they use it. We are all very different in the way our bodies work, our minds react and indeed how our moods work.
But hey,,,,isnt that what makes this such an interesting world? It would be very boring and mundane if we were all the same right?
Until next time

Fake Tanning: Manual V Spray

Firstly, just to clarify the differences between the two types of fake tanning. Manual tanning is applied directly onto and into the skin that has been prepared usually in a cream or lotion format and then is allowed to develop.Spray tan is applied using a compressor type air gun and is applied in a very fine mist in a liquid format and sits onto the skin until it soaks in and then develops. Manual tanning has made a big come from in recent times. Whilst previously it was all about spray tanning treatments for numerous reasons: quickness of the treatment, even application and less product generally used. But with clients wanting  to come to the salon, or treatment area and enjoy a full treatment that involves them giving up an hour or so of their time. This has really helped the manual tan application see a big come back hit! From my experience of learning many moons ago the application of manual tanning before spray tan was even out there....I know myself, I wasn't too kee

6 Shocking Soy Wax Candle Benefits

Candles for me mean so much more than a light source. I love nothing more than a snuggle on the sofa, candle light to create that cozy ambience. It creates calm, lovely soft lighting alongside wonderful fragrances that can take you right back to that special time or place. They can mean romance, they can mean sorrow and joy. I light a candle in remembrance to my loved ones. We light candles to celebrate birthdays and special occasions by placing them on top of the cake. The burning question I often get asked why I chose soy wax for my artisan candles? I get comments that soy is more expensive than say cheaper options such as paraffin wax for example? Well, the simple answer is if you dig a little deeper you will see that the savings come at a higher cost in the end. In simple terms, soy wax is better. Better for the environment, better for the home, better for our families and it creates a better perfomring product in my opinion. Which is so important for me when I am creatin

Failing to prepare, is to preparing to fail: GCSE VTCT Ten Recommendations

I wanted to put together a guidance list of the ten points that I have learnt along my journey teaching this GCSE qualification in order to help support, guide and assist anyone who is about to start teaching this qualification, considering teaching it, or is currently teaching it and needing some additional guidance from someone who has hands on experience. These are my own personal points and by no means set in stone. So please use them as they were intended to be, as a help list. PREPARE: Now I know this might sound a bit of an obvious point as teachers and educators we are always having to think two steps ahead. But by this I mean have your unit scenarios printed for each learner. Have spaces up on your displays so they can collect them if they have lost theirs (students do love to forget things). Have grade descriptors for the unit printed and if they have them glue them into their books so you can mark as you go along and the students know instantly what grade they are
